Doctors can now provide better treatments to their patient’s thanks to advancements in medicine. One of the most promising areas of this field is regenerative therapy, which involves using different techniques to regenerate the body’s tissues. This field is still in its infancy, but doctors believe that it has the potential to become a significant player in the future.

-Stem Cell Treatment

One of the most common types of stem cell therapy is used to treat spinal cord injuries. This procedure involves using a particular type of cell to regenerate the tissues in the spinal disc. This method does not require a specific purpose for stem cells.

The patient’s cells are collected from various sources, such as fat, blood, and bone marrow, to develop stem cell therapy. They are then placed into a centrifuge to determine which type of cells should be used for the treatment. The cells are then injected into the body’s damaged areas.

For instance, if a spinal disc is damaged, the stem cells can be taken directly from the damaged area. These cells can then be turned into healthy spinal disc cells.

-Cartilage Regeneration

One of the most effective ways to treat multiple musculoskeletal conditions is by using cartilage regeneration. This type of therapy is carried out to help the cartilage heal itself, which is not always able to do so on its own due to its lack of blood supply. According to a study by Johns Hopkins Medicine, this type of therapy is ideal for people over 55 years old.

-Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is also known to treat various injuries in sports medicine. This type of therapy involves the use of blood taken from the patient. To make a concentrated solution, the patient’s blood is processed to produce a mixture containing more plasma and platelets than regular blood. It can be injected into the injured area or applied during surgery.

-Prolotherapy

This therapy is commonly used to treat multiple conditions, such as arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and whiplash. In prolotherapy, a doctor uses a combination of substances, such as saline and dextrose to stimulate the injured area. These injections are usually accompanied by a numbing agent, such as lidocaine.

This type of therapy aims to stimulate the body’s healing response and encourage the creation of new tissue structures, which will help the injured area heal itself. Several treatments are then performed to stimulate the growth of new tissue.
